The Passageway and The Note

You find a lot of old stuff hidden in library books!
It was an ordinary day and I was going to the Auckland Central Library. I lived a few blocks away from it so it was easy to get there. Obviously it was the most popular library and there were always a lot of people there. People normally fight for their book even me.
I ran and got a book called “The Tunnel of Good”. Once I touched it someone else came and snatched it off me. We started pulling it when suddenly a note dropped out. I got the note . I ran to the bathroom immediately and read the note. It said “To understand this clue you must read the book it was in”. I finally realised that I had let go of the book the clue was in.The person that snatched the book off me was Sally Penningham. She is the fastest reader I know so I knew I would get all the information off her that I needed. The next day I went to Auckland Central Library again and got the information I needed.
The story said “go to the entrance and they’ll be a little door”. “Go through it and you’ll find your way to the other side of the room”. So I did what it told me to do. When I did it, it took me to the bathroom. The Passageway was really useful especially when times I needed it!

OPINION:
I think that this is sad for Brian and Susan but also disgusting as well. If that happened to my house, I’’d just go live with my dad.

Going To The Interschool Tournament For Cross Country

I was one of the chosen people to go to a cross country interschool tournament at Bailey Road School. We went there by van and back. I am a year seven girl and ran against the other year seven girls.

Once we got there they were just about to begin. First up was the year 3 girls and they did really well. We had to wait until it was our turn to race. Finally after a long time waiting and cheering others it was our turn. We went to the starting line and before we knew it we were off.

At the beginning I started to jog and kept to my own pace. We had to do 3 full laps of the course and most of the course was full of mud. On the first lap I was okay until I got to my second. When I did the second lap I was a little tired, but the third lap was the most tiring of all because thats when I’d got the “stitch.”

Eventually I had came 6th place .Even though I was the smallest person out of all the year seven girls that were racing I did pretty good and I’m proud!

My Tessellation

I have made a tessellation and these are my four main tips!

Four Main Tips To Make Your Tessellation:
  • The best way to make your tessellation exactly symmetrical is to copy and paste it or Control D it.
  • If you are doing the same patterns throughout the whole thing it is best to group it by pressing it then holding Shift and pressing on what you want as a group. The reason you do this is so that it’ll take less time.
  • You can rotate it so that you will have it in different directions.
  • (Main Tip For Me) Use colours that match so that your tessellation can look better!

Is This A Prank?

SUMMARY:
In Barnsley Auction Centre in South Yorkshire a cabinet has broken into pieces! They say that no one was in the building when the cabinet was smashed. He says that “this is more scarier than a destructive hooligan”!

OPINION:

I think that this is creepy but I would love to see it with my own eyes for evidence but I don’t know whether I’d be more scared of a destructive hooligan or a ghost!

My Necklace

Screenshot 2014-08-27 at 14.11.24.png

This is my necklace. I made it at Hard Material at Tamaki College in Mr Grundy’s Workshop. Unfortunately some of the people in my class didn’t finish it in time to take it home and I was one of them. Even though I didn’t get the chance to take it home it was  cool even having the opportunity to make one. Next year we will be going back to Mr Grundy’s Workshop but next time I am going to focus so that I can get it finished and take it home.

Monkey Selfie

A monkey selfie image now has caused uproar on the internet following a debate over who owns the image. A guy named David Slater was taking photos of monkey’s when one of them took the camera of him and took a picture itself. Now the photo has now became famous with a huge amount of people using it.

People are saying that they don’t have to pay to use it because the monkey took the photo so no human owns the copyright. Usually professional photographers charge anyone who uses the snap they’ve taken because they own something called a copyright.

Wikipedia has been using one of the monkey’s selfie image without paying. They say that although the photo was taken on David Slater’s camera he still didn’t take the photo. Now he is angry and trying to find the site to take the picture down.

A Four Winged Fossil Has Been Found!

Scientists in China have found the fossil of a four winged feathered dinosaur. The small bird-like creature is called Changyuraptor yangi. It lived 125 million years ago in the Liaoning Province of China.

At 132cm long, weighing over 4 kilograms, it is the biggest dinosaur of it’s type. The Changyuraptor yangi is bigger than the largest birds that are flying around now, like the Albatross.

The scientist found a full skeleton with a long tail and some 30cm feathers. Four winged dinosaur such as the Changyuraptor yangi are known as microraptorines.

A Dangerous Hiding Spot!

An 11 year old girl thought that she found a perfect hiding place until she realised that she was stuck. Hiding in the washing machine kept her hidden throughout the game, but after she realised that the game had ended she couldn’t get out.

Her legs had fallen asleep after being curled up so tight throughout the game. She couldn’t use her numb feet to help her push her way out. The 11 year old girl became scared as the thing that stirs the clothes was pushing against her chest and was making it hard for her to breath.

The older sister tried to get her sister out with butter peanut butter and ice but she was forced to call their mother who rushed home quickly with the girl’s aunt.  The mum with the help of her aunt were unable to get the stuck girl out so they called 911 and firefighters were sent. Luckily the girl was freed safely, and only had a few bruises.

Boy Takes A Selfie With The Queen!

A boy caught up with the Queen while she was on her tour of a market in Belfast, Northern Ireland. The boy sneakily leaned in and snapped a selfie with her while she was on her three day tour with her husband Prince Philip.

To me I think that the boy was really lucky. I also thought that it was pretty funny. Even though I don’t like taking photos of myself I’ll definitely take one with the queen!

My Experience

From Monday to Wednesday this past week our school had been chosen to be one of six primary schools that went to St Kents College for some sporting  activities. We learnt about sports, nutrition and skills. The five other schools that were there were St Pius X School, Riverina School, East Tamaki, G.I. Primary and Elim School.

We were lucky that St Kents College were providing our lunch for us. The best thing was when us girls got taught many netball skills and drills. The boys got to learn about rugby and had some Auckland Blues players there to teach them. There were lots of students from St Kents there to help us even though they were supposed to be on their school holidays!

Going to St Kents was a really cool experience.

Playing Games At School?

Many schools around the world are letting their students play Minecraft at school. There are over 200 schools in the United Kingdom (UK) who are using the game to help their students.
Minecraft is set in a virtual world where players build with blocks of different materials.
At some schools the kids play the game then they write about their experience. Teachers using the game say “Minecraft can help the kids who don’t like reading and writing” but will New Zealand schools let their students play as well?
