A Four Winged Fossil Has Been Found!

Scientists in China have found the fossil of a four winged feathered dinosaur. The small bird-like creature is called Changyuraptor yangi. It lived 125 million years ago in the Liaoning Province of China.

At 132cm long, weighing over 4 kilograms, it is the biggest dinosaur of it’s type. The Changyuraptor yangi is bigger than the largest birds that are flying around now, like the Albatross.

The scientist found a full skeleton with a long tail and some 30cm feathers. Four winged dinosaur such as the Changyuraptor yangi are known as microraptorines.

Wouldn’t it be cool to have them still flying around?

  1. Hi Elizabeth. It would be awesome to have them flying around. I just wish they don't eat meat! Your blog was informative and it looks like you put a lot of effort into it. The name was very hard to pronounce. Can you say the name properly and was there any information about what they eat?

    1. Hi Destiny. Thanks for the comment. The site where I got the information didn't have anything about what they eat and no I can't say the name properly, because it's too hard for me to say.
