Nelson Mandela has become well known and respected all over the world as a symbol of the struggle against apartheid and all forms of racism. To aboriginal Africans he is their icon and hero of African liberation.
Not only is Nelson Mandela known well for the struggle against apartheid but also for preventing less racist violent policewomen and men against citizens and also because he played a major role for the battle of South Africa's Independence.
In the late 19th century Nelson Mandela became the first black President of South Africa. He became actively involved in the ANC also known as the African National Congress in his middle aged 20s in 1942. He served South Africa for 5 years from 1994 to 1999.
Nelson Mandela was born on July the 18th 1918 and died 2 years ago on December the 5th 2013 at the age of 95 years old. Nelson Mandela died after suffering from a prolonged respiratory infection. Nelson Mandela was born Rolihlala Mandela . Rolihlala in the Xhaos language literally means "pulling a branch of a tree", but more commonly translates as a trouble maker.
Although Nelson Mandela has done many great things in life he has once been sent to jail. Did he do anything wrong? No he didn't but only stand up to the apartheid. Why did he go to jail though if it's just protesting you guess? Its because back in those days when the apartheid were in control that was apart of their law. Whomever protested towards the apartheid had to pay a price, which was Nelson Mandela's price, sentenced to prison for 27 years.
Once Nelson Mandela became in charge of everything being President of South Africa he managed to change everything. He gave everyone equal rights so therefore everyone could speak their minds to everyone and anyone.
In 2009 Nelson Mandela's birthday was declared "Mandela Day" to promote global peace and to celebrate the South African Leader's Legacy. Nelson Mandela has changed people, countries, laws and the world. He's also made many inspirational quotes, sayings and many more things.
